The SAS Peer Mentorship Program is designed to foster inclusion, connection, and empowerment for students with disabilities at Brown. Through one-on-one support, peer mentors provide guidance in navigating academic challenges, building social connections, and accessing campus resources. This program helps students strengthen self-advocacy skills, develop confidence, and find a greater sense of belonging within the Brown community.
Peer mentors are trained to offer compassionate listening, share practical strategies for academics and campus life, and connect mentees with Student Accessibility Services and other support offices. They also help create community through group activities, study sessions, and events that encourage engagement and collaboration. The structure of the program emphasizes consistency, confidentiality, and collaboration. Mentors maintain regular contact with their mentees, participate in training and check-ins, and serve as reliable allies who model inclusion and respect. By blending academic, social, and emotional support, the Peer Mentorship Program strengthens Brown’s commitment to accessibility and ensures that all students have the opportunity to thrive.
