Create a Disability Inclusive Event

Brown is committed to creating accessible and inclusive events that provide equitable access to all participants/attendees regardless of disability status.

Accessibility Planning Requirements

  1. Select an accessible venue when scheduling your event. Choose an accessible location with the scheduling office. University Scheduling Office

  2. Designate a person to manage accommodation or service requests: Each group hosting an event will need to designate a contact person who may consult with Student Accessibility Services (SAS) if there are certain accommodations that require advance notice, such as ASL interpreting and CART.

  3. Include the following statement on all event advertisements, including posters, emails, and social media postings: "if you need a disability-related accommodation, please reach out to (provide department or student group contact name, email address, and phone number here) as far in advance of the event as possible. Thank you."

  4. Consider all aspects of disabilities when choosing a venue for your event. Campus Accessibility Map
