Accommodate

Student Accessibility Services (SAS) uses Accommodate, Brown’s online platform for requesting, reviewing, and managing disability-related accommodations.

For Students

Students use Accommodate to request and manage disability-related accommodations at Brown.

In Accommodate, students can:

  • Submit an initial accommodation request
  • Upload documentation
  • Request new or additional accommodations
  • Manage approved accommodations
  • Submit semester requests to use approved academic accommodations
  • Send accommodation letters to instructors
  • Access copies of accommodation letters
  • Schedule appointments with SAS
  • Communicate with SAS about accommodation-related needs

Students who are new to SAS should begin by submitting an accommodation request through Accommodate. Students who are already registered with SAS should use Accommodate to manage approved accommodations and submit any new accommodation requests.

For Faculty

Faculty use Accommodate to review accommodation letters for students in their courses.

When a student sends an accommodation letter through Accommodate, faculty will receive an email notification. Faculty can then log in to Accommodate to review the student’s approved accommodations.

Accommodation letters identify approved accommodations and may include relevant information about implementation. Faculty should use these letters when coordinating with students about how accommodations will be implemented in a specific course.

Students do not need to disclose their diagnosis, disability, or medical information when discussing accommodations. Faculty with questions about accommodation letters or implementation should contact Student Accessibility Services.
